My Favorite Stationery

I love having my personal effects monogrammed – especially when it comes to stationery. I think I have my father to thank for this. As a little girl, I remember he would buy my sister and I notepads with our names on them. It was mine – and seemed to carry an extra intimacy and pride with my name prominently attached.

To this day, everyone in my family seems to have their own personalized monogrammed stationery. It’s become a staple of gift-giving occasions. The digital revolution has made this once expensive and bespoke process much more accessible, with so many great boutique and online providers from which to choose.

From thank you notes to whimsical cards and pads, you should have a cache of personalized stationery as part of your social game. Of the many great brands, these are a few of my favorites:

Boatman Geller – Boatman Geller was founded in 2002 by designer, Jane Boatman Geller. Jane combines her love of classic patterns with unexpected color combinations- creating a fresh new twist on the traditional.  Boatman Geller offerings include original designs like preppy plaids, modern graphic patterns, suzani’s and florals. The patterns, colors, and icons in the Boatman Geller collections embody Jane’s idea of “the good life”. The patterns in Boatman Geller’s Stationary are so chic yet always fun. I particularly love their monogrammed note pads and be sure to check out their adorable and elegant children’s stationery as well.

Haute Papier Lovers of all things paper, owners Sarah Meyer Walsh and Erin Miller have been sharing their passion for letterpress printing and fine paper goods for a decade.   It took just one lesson to seal their fate as life-long printers.  The dear friends adopted their first press, Pearl, just hours after that lesson and haven’t stopped acquiring antique presses since.  Haute Papier is committed to designing fresh and beautiful stationery, executing exceptional printing, and providing quality customer care. I was sent a pad from Haute Papier as a gift and immediately thought it was the most beautifully simple – and elegant – monogrammed notepad I had seen. Larger than many others I’ve used, this pad is my workhorse. When I went to reorder it, I realized how many size, font, monogram and color choices Haute Papier had available. I just bought my friend their desk notepad for her birthday and it was a big hit. Definitely check out their site if you are a stationery lover, like moi!

The PrinteryThe Printery in Oyster Bay is one of the oldest stationery brands. Located in a landmark building since 1899, it’s a family run business that delivers only the most prestigious and elegant of stationery. When you want that one special set of high quality stationery with your monogram on it, this is the place to go. They can create your unique monogram on a metal plate- which you then own for multiple reuse.  The Printery is especially well known for their beautiful Christmas Cards, perfect for adding that happy family photo. One of my friends once said that when my Christmas Card arrived, it looked like an invitation from the White House!  Their website also boasts a broad selection of you boxed note card sets. A must.

Mr. Boddington’sOwner and Creative Director Rebecca Ruebensaal believes that anything  worth saying is better said on paper. I definitely agree! Mr. Boddington’s makes amazing invitations (which is how I first learned of the line). Introduced again by my sister (she used them for her wedding invitations), they also have boxed card sets, note pads, and many cards for various occasions. They also can be found on Paperless Post where there is a featured Mr. Boddington’s line. Check back often for new items, as the lineup is constantly changing and growing.
