Cuvée Beauty

Rachel Katzman is the founder of Cuvée Beauty, a hair care line that is centered around one main ingredient: Champagne! Not only is Rachel a beautiful, smart entrepreneur- she had a genius idea and put it into action. How did she figure out that champagne is good for hair- a party gone rogue? A dare? Well check out my Q&A to find out her secrets to launching and leading Cuvée, and more!

FO40: Rachel, how did the idea for Cuvée come about?

Cuvée: I went to Las Vegas for my 21st Birthday and all I wanted was to be sprayed and soaked with 21 bottles of champagne. I later realized that my hair looked better drenched in champagne than it had previously- perfect waves, shine, definition and no frizz. I became obsessed with this idea of a champagne spray for hair. I kept testing out my theory, spraying and styling my hair with champagne and kept getting the same results. I knew I was on to something.

FO40: Were you intimidated or daunted at all to start your own company?

Cuvée: I come from a family of entrepreneurs; I always thought I would start something of my own. I grew up hearing different ideas and seeing people in my family start their own businesses, so it felt natural. Scary too, but that can be a good thing!

FO40: You have been getting tons of press. Are you doing all the marketing yourself or do you have a team?

Cuvée: Thank you! I have an amazing team around me; I wouldn’t be able to do this without them. My PR Team has also done a great job spreading the word!

unspecified-1

FO40: Much has been written about your champagne spray and its instant waves. Tell me about this amazing hair care product.

Cuvée: The Champagne Spray is our hero product. It’s going to give you that “piece-y” look, “undone but done” as I like to call it. Unlike other texture sprays, ours won’t leave your hair dry, crunchy, or very sticky. It’s super lightweight and non-greasy, so you’ll be able to run your fingers through your hair all day long. And you can use it on wet or dry hair.

FO40: Tell me about the Cuvée Beauty line.

Cuvée: The whole idea started with our Champagne Spray, but all six of our products are really unique and amazing. I think people love the simplicity of having one shampoo and one conditioner. Our lives are so busy and hectic- who needs to be confused by trying to decide between so many choices of shampoos? You need one shampoo that is going to gently cleanse and not strip, and one conditioner to add moisture without weighing the hair down.

FO40: What advice can you give to other female entrepreneurs?

Cuvée: I would tell them to follow your dreams or any intuitive feeling that they may have. Just because someone doesn’t understand or agree with your passion or idea doesn’t mean it’s a bad one! Success isn’t easy, you really need to work and follow your passion. For me it’s about not wanting to look back and regret not going for it. Also, age is just a number. Don’t ever be intimated by being the youngest (or oldest) voice in the room.

FO40: Where can we find your products?

Cuvée: You can find everything on our website. We are focusing on e-commerce right now, we think our website will be a great place to really tell our story.

FO40: What is next for you and for Cuvee?

Cuvée: Growing the awareness, building more content. We have some tutorials coming out on our website soon. I want more people to learn about Cuvée and fall in love with it just like I have. Also, education. Most girls don’t ever think about taking care of their hair, and don’t care about what they put on it. We have amazing ingredients, skincare grade ingredients in all of our products, that will help bring your hair back to life. Its all about that healthy, shiny, gorgeous hair.

Thanks Rachel!
