I came across Maria Hatzistefanis, founder of the Rodial skin-care and makeup line, when my husband sent me an article from the Daily Mail titled “Women Who prove you CAN have it All: The Female Entrepreneurs who run Multi-Million Pound Businesses – but still find time for a Family and Fitness Regime.” The timing was about two weeks before my launch of FO40 and it sounded like it was directed right at me.
I looked into Ms. Hatzistefanis’ company and decided to try the products. I ordered the following from her website: Bee Venom Night Crème, Super Acids X-treme Pore Shrink Cleansing Pads, Super Acids X-treme Dark Spot Sun Filter, and Super Acids X-treme After-Party Scrub.
I always love a new night cream and started using her Bee Venom offering right away. It has a gel-like consistency, applies easily, and has a pleasant, fresh scent. While most nights I just want to collapse into bed and avoid a lengthy beauty regimen, I stuck with this cream with remarkable results. The Bee Venom night cream purports to “retexture and improve the appearance of uneven skin tone and pore size”, “promote skin elasticity” and “plump and firm the look of fine lines and wrinkles for a smoother, younger looking complexion.” I’ll let others judge whether this cream is making me look more youthful, but I definitely feel that my skin looks brighter. Count me as hooked on Rodial!
Maria is also a marketing guru. Using her personal Instagram (boosting 539,000K followers!), Insta-stories, YouTube and emails, she has built her company into a multi-million dollar brand. Her YouTube channel features easy to follow clips discussing how to use and apply Rodial products. She also has a super-helpful video on the benefits and differences between InstaStories and Snapchat.
Hello! Magazine just ran an amazing profile on Maria and Rodial. The article says that Cameron Diaz, Emma Stone, and Jennifer Lopez are all Rodial devotees; there’s even whispers that the glamorous Duchess of Cambridge is a fan of the brand. As the story goes, Maria’s goal upon founding the company in 1999 was to find an alternative to surgery and injections. Rodial now offers a full line of products for the face and body: anti-aging creams, de-puffers for the face (to use before a big event), Super Fit Size Zero to eliminate cellulite ( I just bought this one!), a makeup line (try the smoky eye liner), and much more!
Looking for the Rodial line in a store near you? While less well known in the US as London, you’ll find Rodial products at most Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom locations among others. I even found some on Amazon.com. The selection on the Rodial website, though, is much more robust. If you make your way to London, beeline to Harvey Nichols and stock up- that’s what I plan to do (added bonus- the British Pound exchange rate is currently uber-cheap against the US Dollar).
