I attended the recent Super Saturday NY event which is the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance’s (OCRFA) yearly shopping day complete with a one of a kind designer “garage sale”. Hosted by Donna Karan, Kelly Ripa, and Gabby Karan de Felice, it was held this past Saturday at Nova’s Ark in Watermill.
OCRFA is the largest global organization dedicated to advancing ovarian cancer research while supporting women and their families. Ovarian Cancer, known as the “silent killer” is one of the deadliest cancers in women. Although the rate at which women are being diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer is falling, it is still ranks 5th in cancer deaths among women. I was very happy to support this event, as I just lost a dear friend to this horrible disease.
Super Saturday featured discounted merchandise from nearly 150 prominent participants including: DKNY, Ralph Lauren, VINCE., Henri Bendel, MILLY, Shoshanna, Theory, alice + olivia, L’AGENCE, Calypso St. Barth, and SoulCycle among others. Rachel Zoe had her Designers ‘A to Zoe’ booth for the 9th year which featured hand picked pieces from some of her favorite designers. New to Super Saturday NY this year were the “Lifestyle Marketplace”, curated by Donna Karan and Gabby Karan de Felice, and Suite 1521, an exclusive luxury fashion destination in Manhattan.
BFloral, an amazing florist who specializes in personalized arrangements and designs, carefully hand crafted nearly 1,000 flower crowns for Super Saturday attendees. These were a huge hit with everyone including the celebrities wearing these beautiful headpieces.
Along with the endless rows of gorgeous designer clothing, handbags and jewelry, Super Saturday also featured an extravagant raffle that gave attendees the chance to win luxury prizes while giving back to this amazing cause. Event goers had the opportunity to win a POLOGEORGIS Fur Vest, Gucci Bag, Jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz, an introductory package to F-Factor nutrition, and a complete spa day from 27 Hampton Salon.
I was at the event with my step-daughter, and we ended up with some great Edie Parker Bags from Suite 1521, Koral active wear and L’AGENCE jeans. We bought a lot of raffle tickets and hope we might get lucky with one of the spectacular prizes!
I plan to make Super Saturday an annual “must attend” event and bring a wider group of friends and family along for the fun. This year OCRFA’s Super Saturday is expected to have raised almost $3.5 million dollars- amazing! It’s truly a great day for a great cause with something for everyone. From excellent shopping to amusement park rides for the kids (and those spectacular floral crowns!), it’s a fun way to spend a summer Saturday. Plus, it’s never too early to teach your kids the importance of giving back.
